Remember the names Mankwana Moriri & Nobe Zwane

The story of the South Africa Cricket Academy is written quietly, consistently, and relentlessly by those who wear its colours with pride. It is a story shaped by discipline, belief, and an inherited standard passed down through years of deliberate work. From the earliest training sessions to the distant horizons of the international game, each chapter is built on patience, structure, and an uncompromising commitment to development. Celebrating progress along this pathway is not ceremony, it is culture.

In this moment stand two young cricketers from the same Academy, at different stages of the same journey: Mankwana Moriri on the left and Nobubelebesisa “Nobe” Zwane on the Right. Their stories are unique, yet deeply connected by a shared process.
_____
_____
Mankwana Moriri.
At just 15 years old, Mankwana was selected for the South Africa Women’s Under-19 World Cup squad, an extraordinary achievement by any measure, and a historic one given her age. Even more powerful is where her journey began: Alexandra township, a community that knows hardship intimately, but also resilience, courage, and untapped talent.
From those streets to the world stage, Mankwana’s rise speaks to the transformative power of sport. She possesses immense natural ability, but more importantly, she carries a hunger to learn, to grow, and to rise above circumstance. What cricket has already done for her is remarkable; what lies ahead is almost unimaginable.
Her journey echoes the words of Nelson Mandela, who reminded the world that sport has the power to change lives, to inspire hope, and to unite where despair once lived. In Mankwana’s story, those words are no longer philosophy—they are lived reality.
Within our Academy, Mankwana is one of many. Yet her selection at such a young age marks her as a powerful symbol of what is possible when talent meets opportunity, structure, and belief. She represents not only herself, but every young girl from Alexandra and beyond who dares to dream bigger than her surroundings.
This is another one from the magic crop.
A story of hope.
A story of belief.
A story still being written.

This selection is not a leap of faith, it is recognition earned through sustained excellence.
